Book Review: A Proper Drink

A Proper Drink: The Untold Story Of How A Band Of Bartenders Saved The Civilized Drinking World by Robert Simonson offers rare historical perspective on the joys of modern drinking. It is safe to say that many mixed drink fans don’t quite realize just how much the drinking experience has changed in recent years. Prepare to be enlightened.

For this book, Simonson interviewed dozens of bartenders, club owners, connoisseurs, and mixed drink artists. Their stories shed light on the philosophy and methodology behind many of today’s most prestigious and popular drinks. After each story are a couple recipes for readers to try at home.

My friends who I affectionately refer to as mixed drink “snobs” will eat this up while sipping a few drinks to be sure.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
