Book Review: Pop Painting By Camilla d’Errico

Camilla d’Errico is one of the most fascinating and creative artists in the wonderful world of pop painting today. Her paintings of beautiful young girls with big anime influenced eyes, surrounded by a surreal blend of animals (often birds and butterflies), are captivating and addicting.

In Pop Painting, d’Errico offers us a peek into her unique techniques and methods and the end result is a book that is very hard to put down. What is pop surrealism? How do you evoke emotion? How do you replicate those amazing melting effects? Answers to those and a myriad of other questions are all here. As are step by step instructions and thoughts on some of her most popular pieces.

I have reviewed several art instruction books over the past couple months and this is by far my favorite art book (so far) in 2016. Anyone with an appreciation of the unusual and beautiful will want this in their collection. It is worth every penny.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
