Not long ago I wrote a review for a book on landscape watercolor painting. That book received a fairly negative review simply based on the medium involved. While I respect and understand the work that goes into watercolor art, I prefer the much classier end result of oil painting any day of the week.
Happily, today I get to review a truly beautiful landscape art book titled The Elements of Landscape Oil Painting by Suzanne Brooker. As the title suggests, this book meticulously breaks down the pieces involved in landscape painting and connects the dots that lead to your new masterpiece. Works from current well known artists are included to illustrate substance and style as well as various techniques to help you craft your painting.
While new artists as well as professionals will find these pages filled with useful information, this book itself is a work of art. Every page is beautiful and inspiring, calling the reader to break out a new canvass and get to work.
I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
